GIS Solutions for mapping the mining of critical industrial minerals have reached into new territory in recent years. Traditional paper methods of geologic mapping have gone digital, with a broad range of portable technology available to access the data in the field.
Not only are the traditional methods slow and costly, but labor intensive as well. Developments in computer speed, data storage, portability, and memory have made digital GIS mapping significantly more practical in the mapping of mine sites. Handheld digital electronics allow the field geologist near instant access to databases that include geologic photographic and remote sensing data from the confines of history as well as from their own project.
Integrated databases facilitate the identification of crucial geologic relationships, and visualization of geophysical or geochemical data provides these data. Likewise, geology and synoptic aerial imagery at any scale while mapping can be invaluable. By effectively using information technology and exploring the available integrated data sets as field geologist maps, new digital techniques are improving our ability to make conceptual leaps, and help to produce better 3D geologic models for mineral deposits.

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE EXPERIENCE (VCX)
The Critical Minerals VCX will address these issues:
-
Safety in Mining Areas
-
LiDar Critical Mineral Mapping Cost Efficiency
-
Data Collection Methodology in Mining Digital Infrastructure
Presenters from government and industry will address these issues while drawing comparisons to traditional methods of Geologic Mapping to provide an honest assessment of the future of Geologic Data Digital Infrastructure.
